Dear Friend:

Attached is a flyer and a lane sponsor application for a wonderful annual fund raising event sponsored by our friends at the Lexington Business Exchange (LBX) club. This great group of local professional business people meet for breakfast every Thursday morning from 8-9 at the Flight Deck restaurant in Lexington. Over the past six years, this group has generously given their time and efforts to build a fence, install a basket ball court as well as a back yard fountain and light for our house parents’ Jean and Roscoe Moore at the shelter. In addition to the on-site projects, the Club has raised in excess of $50,000 during their previous annual “Bowling for the Children” fundraisers.

This year’s fund raising event is being held at JC’s Lexington Bowling Alley on US 1. The date is Thursday evening, May 17th from 6-9 pm. Please consider bringing your family and join the shelter kids in an evening of fun. There will be raffles and events for the whole family.

In addition, please consider sponsoring a bowling lane for $200.00 as described in the attached flyer and application. Your family name or business name will be placed on a 2’ X 3’ sign above one of 34 lanes. Last year’s event was our best effort yet with $13,000 raised for the kids at the shelter. All of the donations are tax deductable and 100% of the donations go directly to the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter. Please contact “Event Chairman” Mike Williams at 767-9808 or Lexington Business Exchange Director Ted Sutton at 606-4747 for additional information about the event or lane sponsorships.

Sincerely,

Jarrell M. Smith

Perry Children’s Shelter as their beneficiary. The project was to collect needed paper supplies (plates, cups, napkins, paper towels, etc.) that could be donated to the Shelter. The collection project ran through the month of February and the response was overwhelming! The school gathered approximately 50 large bags of various paper products and donated them to the Shelter on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Ms. Robin Brock was the teacher Coordinator and had several student Ambassadors to assist her in this project. It was a school-wide effort and everyone had an opportunity to participate. “We had fun with it” Ms Brock said. “ I wish you could have seen how we promoted it. The Ambassadors took the paper products, some googlie eyes, and construction paper and made characters or robots. They set them around in different parts of the school with details of the drive. They were adorable. Also, we printed up large mailing labels and slapped them onto the middle of paper plates then stuck one in each teacher’s box. It was a blast! We believe the project was successful because it was something everyone could do. We hope SGES can do a project like this for NKP Children’s Shelter in the future!”

This is the 3rd year the Lake Murray Lions Club has sponsored a calendar of art works created by the children of the Shelter with all proceeds from the sales going to the Shelter.

These are really works of art created by the children under the supervision of Lee Swallie, Lexington’s premier children’s art instructor. The kid’s are so proud to have one of the works selected and published. You can purchase a calendar for $10 and help the Shelter at the same time. What a great idea for holiday gifts or gifts for no particular reason. Based on the past 2 years, everyone will be touched by the work of these children.
