Welcome to the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter

Since its founding in 1972, the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter has provided safe harbor for more than 5,000 children in Lexington County. The Shelter exists to provide residential care and nurture to children who are in crisis.

All I ever wanted was someone to listen and to hold me, nothing more!
~ A., age 14

We must look on children in need not as problems but as individuals with potential… I would hope we could find creative ways to draw out of our children the good that is there in each of them.
~ Archbishop Desmund Tutu

INVISIBLE TEARS

Like fragile ships
In a raging storm…
Living real life nightmares
With no hope of dawn.
Crying on the inside
Endless rivers of tears…
Victims living in sadness
Throughout the long years.
A legacy of suffering
We must work to end…
As the silent cries for help
and the invisible tears.

Dedicated to the victims of child sexual abuse
